Short text

FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL: FI-AA, Parallel Valuation (New)

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0 SP 02 (EA-FIN 617 SP02), the business function FI-AA, Parallel Valuation
(FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) is available. You can use this business function to map the parallel valuation of your fixed assets.

To be able to use this business function, you have to use new General Ledger Accounting with the ledger
approach. For additional information about the prerequisites for this business function, see section “Effects on Customizing”.

Asset Accounting with active business function and active Customizing switch is referred to below as
“new Asset Accounting” or “FI-AA (new)” Asset Accounting prior to this is referred as “classic Asset Accounting” in order to distinguish the two.

Characteristics and use of new Asset Accounting

You can now assign the depreciation areas of new Asset Accounting to the ledger groups of the general
ledger in a more flexible way. The fixed linkage of depreciation area 01 to the leading ledger in the
general ledger no longer applies. The system posts parallel values with the actual values in realtime;
separate documents are posted for each valuation. The means the posting of delta values has been replaced; as a result, the delta depreciation areas are no longer required.

Activating and setting up this business function (FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) is the prerequistie for business function FI-GL, Change in Leading Valuation (such as to IFRS)
(FIN_GL_CHNGE_LDG_VAL). When you change the leading valuation, it is possible to change the accounting
principles underlying the group valuation without having to adapt the configuration of new Asset Accounting or change the historical transaction data.

You must or should activate business function (FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) in the following cases:

  • You want to use the SAP application for Asset Accounting for the first time (activation of business function FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL is advised).
  • You want to use business function FI-GL, Change in Leading Valuation (such as to IFRS)
(FIN_GL_CHNGE_LDG_VAL) (activation of business function FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL is essential).
  • You are already using classic Asset Accounting. You also want to make postings in all valuations
(for all accounting principles) in real time. You want to be able to comprehend the postings of all
valuations, without having to take into account the postings of the leading valuation, as was previously the case. The following details the advantages you gain by using new Asset Accounting:
  • Real-time postings in all valuations
  • Leading valuation made more flexible
  • Parallel documents for each valuation that post correct values from the beginning
  • Abolition of delta areas for the parallel valuation
  • Simplification of your chart of depreciation
  • Valuation-specific postings by restriction to ledger group or depreciation area; the restriction of transaction types to depreciation area no longer applies
  • Different fiscal year variants for each valuation (restriction: beginning and end date of the fiscal year variant have to match)
  • Straightforward assignment of accounts for each valuation within an asset class
  • Simplified management of economic assets that are to be capitalized in accordance with a set of accounting principles, but are to be posted to expense in accordance with a different set.

Constraints

You can use new Asset Accounting providing you are using the ledger approach. The account approach is not supported in this delivery.
However, it is possible for you to use new Asset Accounting for the ledger approach in one client, while you can use classic Asset Accounting for the account approach in another client.

ALE transfer is not available.

The batch input method is no longer available; you can use the changed and new BAPIs for postings instead. For more information on these BAPIs, see the
Postings Release Note.

Reversal using a document with reversed positive/negative signs (an inverse posting) is possible; a real reversal (negative posting) is no longer available.

Other Release Notes

For more information about new Asset Accounting, see the following release notes:

Effects on Existing Data

Existing Data

Existing master data, transaction data and Customizing data is not changed by activating the business function or the Customizing switch.

Note the following:

See release note Changeover and New Customizing for information about the new and changed Customizing settings.

User Interface

Implementation Guide

When you activate the business function, a separate Customizing structure for new Asset Accounting is
shown in the SAP Reference IMG under Financial Accounting (New):
Asset Accounting (New)
. This IMG structure contains some of the same activities as are in classic
Asset Accounting, some changed activities, and some new activities; a few of the classic Asset Accounting
activities are no longer contained in the Asset Accounting (New) IMG structure at all.

Transactions

Some of the classic Asset Accounting transactions have been replaced by corresponding new ones. So that
you can make ledger group-specific postings, input fields Depreciation Area
and Ledger Group can be found on the screen for the new transactions. The name of the relevant new tansaction ends in “L”. Example: The previous transaction AB01
(Create Asset Transactions) is replaced by the new transaction AB01L.

The new transactions are: AB01L, ABAAL, ABAKL, ABAOL, ABAVL, ABAWL, ABCOL, ABGFL, ABGLL, ABIFL, ABMAL, ABMRL, ABNAL, ABNEL, ABNKL, ABSOL, ABSTL, ABUML, ABZEL, ABZOL, ABZPL, ABZUL.

As soon as you have activated the new Asset Accounting Customizing switch, the system responds as follows:
If you enter the old familiar transaction (without the ending in L), you are automatically transferred to the new transaction (that ends in L).

Transaction ABSO_OLD from classic Asset Accounting is no longer available in new Asset Accounting; you can use transaction AB01L instead.

SAP Easy Access Menu

The SAP Easy Access Menu for new Asset Accounting remains the same as for the classic Asset Accounting.
You can continue to find it under SAP Menu -> Accounting -> Financial Accounting -> Fixed Assets.

As soon as you have activated the Customizing switch for new Asset Accounting, the system is set to transfer you to any of the new transactions (compare the transactions detailed above).

Effects on Data Transfer

Programs for asset postings that supply Asset Accounting with data using batch input (for example, interfaces
to non-SAP sytems) can no longer be used (as mentioned above). You have to change over these programs to the new BAPIs. See the corresponding section in the
Postings release note.

Effects on System Administration

Effects on Customizing

Prerequisites for the Business Function

For you to be able to use new Asset Accounting, the following criteria must be met:

Or: If you have not previously used classic Asset Accounting, you need to make all of the necessary Customizing settings for new Asset Accounting.

Prerequisites for Asset Accounting (FI-AA) (new)

If you want to use new Asset Accounting, you are not allowed to use any of the following components:

You cannot activate new Asset Accounting in company codes in which JVA is active, and the reverse is also true.
(The business function JVA, Integration with New General Ledger Accounting (JVA_GL_INTEGRATION)) is also not compatible with new Asset Accounting.)
The LAE controls postings for the lessor scenario; this scenario consists of the components CRM Leasing (CRM-LAM) and Leasing Accounting (FI-LA).

If you are already using classic Asset Accounting, the following additional prerequisites also apply:

The parallel currencies in the leading ledger in General Ledger Accounting and in the depreciation areas
in Asset Accounting must be congruent. If you have previously been using parallel currencies in General
Ledger Accounting but you have not implemented the corresponding parallel currency
areas in Asset Accounting for all depreciation areas, you must first implement these depreciation areas before you can activate new Asset Accounting. Contact your system specialist.

Relationship to Other Business Functions

New Asset Accounting has the following relationships to other business functions:

As of SAP enhancement package 7 SP02, you can also valuate investment measures differently for the parallel
valuation of the cost of goods manufactured, according to accounting principle. These valuation approaches
are activated for each depreciation area when you settle investment measures for assets under construction
(AUC) and for the full settlement to completed assets, depending on the accounting principle. Differing
capitalization percentage rates from the Customizing activity for calculating the capitalization value of investment measures (transaction OKGK) are taken into account.
If you use purchase orders for low-value assets (LVA) in Asset Accounting, then in the future it is
not possible to note purchase orders if the LVA maximum amount is exceeded. If you
want to use the function for noting purchase orders, we recommend that you activate the business function Materials Management – Enhancements in Procurement (LOG_MM_CI_3).
Where you have assigned different fiscal year variants to your general ledgers, you can only use new
Asset Accounting if you have activated business function FIN_AA_CI_1, and have assigned the appropriate fiscal year variant to the corresponding depreciation areas that manage APC and post in real time.
Setting up and activating this business function (FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) is the prerequisite for changing the leading valuation in the new General Ledger Accounting.

Time of the changeover from classic to new Asset Accounting

You can make the changeover from the classic to the new Asset Accounting at any time you wish.

The prerequisite for this is, however, that you have completed all periodic and current posting processes that involve Asset Accounting. You must not make any postings during the changeover.

You are recommended to carry out the changeover after period closing has been fully completed.

Movie Info

An American movie maker famous for living large wants to die in his own unique manner — which turns out to be harder to pull off than anyone expected — in this offbeat comedy from Chinese director Feng Xiaogang. Don Tyler (Donald Sutherland) is a well-known American filmmaker who has come to China to direct an epic scale costume drama about the last emperor of China. Lucy (Rosamund Kwan), Tyler’s Chinese-American assistant and translator, hires YoYo (Ge You), a cameraman whose career has seen better days, to make a documentary about Tyler’s massive project. Tyler and YoYo quickly hit it off and become friends; Tyler, however, isn’t feeling especially inspired, and is haunted by thoughts of his own mortality. YoYo tells Tyler of the traditions of the common funeral in China, but Tyler is convinced YoYo was talking about a “comedy funeral,” and after he falls ill following his firing by producer Tony (Paul Mazursky), Tyler begs YoYo to arrange such a memorial for him. YoYo sheepishly agrees, and when he’s unsure of how to proceed, he seeks the help of noted event promoter Louis King (Ying Da). King whips up a massive funeral for Tyler, but it turns out that neither Tyler nor YoYo have the money to pay for it. King then strikes upon the idea of bringing in corporate sponsors to help bring the event into the black. Soon, dozens of multinational corporations are vying for the privilege of scoring advertising space during Tyler’s televised funeral, but a fly appears in the ointment — Tyler turns a corner, and it looks as if he won’t be dying after all. Big Shot’s Funeral marked the first major international project for director Feng Xiaogang, who has worked several times in the past with leading man Ge You, a major comic star in China.

By American standards, the satire is about 50 years behind the times, but even accounting for cultural differences, the comedy is limp and the storytelling so inept as to provoke amazement.

Timid Justine (Garance Marillier), raised a strict vegetarian, undergoes severe hazing when she becomes a student vet. Forced by her sister Alexia (Ella Rumpf) to eat raw rabbit’s kidney, she discovers strange new carnivorous cravings.

★★★★

If it were just about veterinary school initiation rites, writer-director Julia Ducournau’s Raw — the English-language release title offers as many meanings as the original French Grave — would be unsettling and shocking enough. On her first night in a hall of residence, repressed rookie Justine (Garance Marillier) and her new roommate, gregarious gay guy Adrien (Nait Oufella), are both hauled out of bed by veteran students who act like masked terrorists. All the freshers are made to crawl slowly through a car park in night-clothes to a raucous rave — one of many sequences here in which people are reduced to acting (and suffering) like animals. Later, the whole class is doused in blood Carrie-style and have to wear stained whites to lectures — while Justine’s own older sister Alexia (Ella Rumpf) makes her eat an unidentifiable lump of pickled meat she’s told is a rabbit’s kidney. The hazing gets even more personal as girls and boys are sloshed with blue and yellow paint respectively, then told to go into a room and not come out ’til they’re all green.

Despite its body horror credentials, it’s also a tender, subtle film about family.

Amid all this Animal House/Jackass business, virginal vegetarian Justine’s awakening to the joys of eating meat might almost go unnoticed if it weren’t for the gleam in her eye as she goes from being nauseated when a stray meatball turns up in her mashed potatoes to pocketing a burger, sneaking out for shawarma and gazing longingly at spilled blood. After a Cronenbergian rash has peeled off her like a snakeskin, her mood swings and odd cravings — such as eating and sicking up her own hair — become more extreme. The film tips its hand in an astonishing sequence as a bizarre Brazilian waxing accident leads to Justine’s sister Alexia snipping off her own finger. With a jolly dog around to shoulder the blame, Justine takes advantage of the situation to use the severed digit first as a lipstick… and then as a chewy snack.

After that, there’s no going back to hummus, and Alexia, who has already undergone her own away-from-home transformation, shows her sister ways of satisfying her hunger, but long-simmering family tensions (and that gnawed finger) mean the relationship has startling downs between the genuinely moving ups. As often in classy horror, turning into a monster also means sexual liberation, with Justine exploring the far reaches of sexuality — though horny student guys (even theoretically not-interested Adrien) soon find she’s more predator than prey.

Justine and Alexia are never explicitly characterised as supernatural creatures, but the sisters — affectingly portrayed by newcomers Garance Marillier (who first played Justine in Ducournau’s short, Junior) and Ella Rumpf — owe a kinship with (mostly female) movie monsters like the French gourmet vampires of Trouble Every Day and the Canadian werewolf sisters of Ginger Snaps. Ducournau turns an unflinching camera eye on physical processes, as the sisters bond by trying to pee standing up and a very un-James Herriot sequence involves that old vet standby of an arm up a cow’s rectum. Often, Raw seems mercifully to elide horrors which take place between scenes only for a phone-video clip or a turned-back sheet to show the worst. And then there’s Joana Preiss and Laurent Lucas, who contribute tiny, creepily perfect performances as the girls’ parents. It turns out, despite its body horror credentials, it’s also a tender, subtle film about family.

A classy French-Belgian horror with an unusual female perspective on monstrous taboos. Shocking but not sensationalist, this is a strong cannibal movie worth chewing over.

The variable interest rates are based on a Current Index, which is the 1-month London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) (currency in US dollars), as published on The Wall Street Journal’s website. The variable interest rates and Annual Percentage Rate (APR) will increase or decrease when the 1-month LIBOR index changes.

    1. Student Loan RefinanceFixed rates from 3.999% APR to 7.804% APR (with AutoPay). Variable rates from 2.480% APR to 7.524% APR (with AutoPay). Interest rates on variable rate loans are capped at either 8.95% or 9.95% depending on term of loan. See APR examples and terms. Lowest variable rate of 2.480% APR assumes current 1 month LIBOR rate of 2.07% plus 0.91% margin minus 0.25% ACH discount. Not all borrowers receive the lowest rate. If approved for a loan, the fixed or variable interest rate offered will depend on your creditworthiness, and the term of the loan and other factors, and will be within the ranges of rates listed above. For the SoFi variable rate loan, the 1-month LIBOR index will adjust monthly and the loan payment will be re-amortized and may change monthly. APRs for variable rate loans may increase after origination if the LIBOR index increases. The SoFi 0.25% AutoPay interest rate reduction requires you to agree to make monthly principal and interest payments by an automatic monthly deduction from a savings or checking account. The benefit will discontinue and be lost for periods in which you do not pay by automatic deduction from a savings or checking account. *To check the rates and terms you qualify for, SoFi conducts a soft credit inquiry. Unlike hard credit inquiries, soft credit inquiries (or soft credit pulls) do not impact your credit score. Soft credit inquiries allow SoFi to show you what rates and terms SoFi can offer you up front. After seeing your rates, if you choose a product and continue your application, we will request your full credit report from one or more consumer reporting agencies, which is considered a hard credit inquiry. Hard credit inquiries (or hard credit pulls) are required for SoFi to be able to issue you a loan. In addition to requiring your explicit permission, these credit pulls may impact your credit score
    2. Terms and Conditions Apply: SOFI RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MODIFY OR DISCONTINUE PRODUCTS AND BENEFITS AT ANY TIME WITHOUT NOTICE. To qualify, a borrower must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident in an eligible state and meet SoFi’s underwriting requirements. Not all borrowers receive the lowest rate. To qualify for the lowest rate, you must have a responsible financial history and meet other conditions. If approved, your actual rate will be within the range of rates listed above and will depend on a variety of factors, including term of loan, a responsible financial history, years of experience, income and other factors. Rates and Terms are subject to change at anytime without notice and are subject to state restrictions. SoFi refinance loans are private loans and do not have the same repayment options that the federal loan program offers such as Income Based Repayment or Income Contingent Repayment or PAYE. Licensed by the Department of Business Oversight under the California Financing Law License No. 6054612. SoFi loans are originated by SoFi Lending Corp., NMLS # 1121636. (www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org)

    1. Offered terms are subject to change. Loans are offered by CommonBond Lending, LLC (NMLS # 1175900). The following table displays the estimated monthly payment, total interest, and Annual Percentage Rates (APR) for a $10,000 loan. The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) shown for each in-school loan product reflects the accruing interest, the effect of one-time capitalization of interest at the end of a deferment period, a 2% origination fee, and the applicable Repayment Plan. All loans are eligible for a 0.25% reduction in interest rate by agreeing to automatic payment withdrawals once in repayment, which is reflected in the interest rates and APRs displayed. Variable rates may increase after consummation. All variable rates are based on a 1-month LIBOR assumption of 2.08% effective July 25, 2018.

4  Important Disclosures for Citizens Bank .

    Citizens Bank Disclosures

    1. Education Refinance Loan Rate DisclosureVariable rate, based on the one-month London Interbank Offered Rate (“LIBOR”) published in The Wall Street Journal on the twenty-fifth day, or the next business day, of the preceding calendar month. As of August 1, 2018, the one-month LIBOR rate is 2.07%. Variable interest rates range from 2.72%-8.17% (2.72%-8.17% APR) and will fluctuate over the term of the borrower’s loan with changes in the LIBOR rate, and will vary based on applicable terms, level of degree earned and presence of a cosigner. Fixed interest rates range from 3.50%-8.69% (3.50% – 8.69% APR) based on applicable terms, level of degree earned and presence of a cosigner. Lowest rates shown require application with a cosigner, are for eligible, creditworthy applicants with a graduate level degree, require a 5-year repayment term and include our Loyalty discount and Automatic Payment discounts of 0.25 percentage points each, as outlined in the Loyalty and Automatic Payment Discount disclosures. The maximum variable rate on the Education Refinance Loan is the greater of 21.00% or Prime Rate plus 9.00%. Subject to additional terms and conditions, and rates are subject to change at any time without notice. Such changes will only apply to applications taken after the effective date of change. Please note: Due to federal regulations, Citizens Bank is required to provide every potential borrower with disclosure information before they apply for a private student loan. The borrower will be presented with an Application Disclosure and an Approval Disclosure within the application process before they accept the terms and conditions of their loan.
    2. Federal Loan vs. Private Loan Benefits: Some federal student loans include unique benefits that the borrower may not receive with a private student loan, some of which we do not offer with the Education Refinance Loan. Borrowers should carefully review their current benefits, especially if they work in public service, are in the military, are currently on or considering income based repayment options or are concerned about a steady source of future income and would want to lower their payments at some time in the future. When the borrower refinances, they waive any current and potential future benefits of their federal loans and replace those with the benefits of the Education Refinance Loan. For more information about federal student loan benefits and federal loan consolidation, visit http://studentaid.ed.gov/ . We also have several resources available to help the borrower make a decision at http://www.citizensbank.com/EdRefinance, including Should I Refinance My Student Loans? and our FAQs. Should I Refinance My Student Loans? includes a comparison of federal and private student loan benefits that we encourage the borrower to review.
    3. Citizens Bank Education Refinance Loan Eligibility: Eligible applicants may not be currently enrolled, must be in repayment of their existing student loan(s) and must make the minimum number of payments after leaving school. Primary borrowers must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or resident alien with a valid U.S. Social Security Number residing in the United States. Resident aliens must apply with a co-signer who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The co-signer (if applicable) must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a valid U.S. Social Security Number residing in the United States. For applicants who have not attained the age of majority in their state of residence, a co-signer will be required. Citizens Bank reserves the right to modify eligibility criteria at anytime. Interest rate ranges subject to change. Education Refinance Loans are subject to credit qualification, completion of a loan application/consumer credit agreement, verification of application information, certification of borrower’s student loan amount(s) and highest degree earned.
    4. Loyalty Discount Disclosure: The borrower will be eligible for a 0.25 percentage point interest rate reduction on their loan if the borrower or their co-signer (if applicable) has a qualifying account in existence with us at the time the borrower and their co-signer (if applicable) have submitted a completed application authorizing us to review their credit request for the loan. The following are qualifying accounts: any checking account, savings account, money market account, certificate of deposit, automobile loan, home equity loan, home equity line of credit, mortgage, credit card account, or other student loans owned by Citizens Bank, N.A. Please note, our checking and savings account options are only available in the following states: CT, DE, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, and VT and some products may have an associated cost. This discount will be reflected in the interest rate disclosed in the Loan Approval Disclosure that will be provided to the borrower once the loan is approved. Limit of one Loyalty Discount per loan and discount will not be applied to prior loans. The Loyalty Discount will remain in effect for the life of the loan.
    5. Automatic Payment Discount Disclosure: Borrowers will be eligible to receive a 0.25 percentage point interest rate reduction on their student loans owned by Citizens Bank, N.A. during such time as payments are required to be made and our loan servicer is authorized to automatically deduct payments each month from any bank account the borrower designates. Discount is not available when payments are not due, such as during forbearance. If our loan servicer is unable to successfully withdraw the automatic deductions from the designated account three or more times within any 12-month period, the borrower will no longer be eligible for this discount.
    6. Co-signer Release: Borrowers may apply for co-signer release after making 36 consecutive on-time payments of principal and interest. For the purpose of the application for co-signer release, on-time payments are defined as payments received within 15 days of the due date. Interest only payments do not qualify. The borrower must meet certain credit and eligibility guidelines when applying for the co-signer release. Borrowers must complete an application for release and provide income verification documents as part of the review. Borrowers who use deferment or forbearance will need to make 36 consecutive on-time payments after reentering repayment to qualify for release. The borrower applying for co-signer release must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. If an application for co-signer release is denied, the borrower may not reapply for co-signer release until at least one year from the date the application for co-signer release was received. Terms and conditions apply.
    7. Average savings based on 18,113 actual customers who refinanced their federal and private student loans through our Education Refinance Loan between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017. The calculation is derived by averaging the monthly savings of Education Refinance Loan customers whose payments decreased after refinancing, which is calculated by taking the monthly student loan payments prior to refinancing minus the monthly student loan payments after refinancing. The borrower’s savings might vary based on the interest rates, balances and remaining repayment term of the loans they are seeking to refinance. The borrower’s overall repayment amount may be higher than the loans they are refinancing even if their monthly payments are lower.

    by Andrew Josuweit

    young woman

If you’re ready to refinance your student loans, your search for the best lender is finally over.

We compared banks and lenders across the country to find ones with the best terms for student loan borrowers. The six below could help you refinance and consolidate both private and federal student loans. With this move, you could snag a lower interest rate, decrease your monthly payment, or both.

You might even get out of student loan debt ahead of schedule.

To qualify for refinancing, you’ll need to meet requirements for credit score, annual income, savings, and college degree (or certificate of enrollment if you’re still in school). If you can’t yet qualify on your own, you could apply with a creditworthy cosigner to improve your chances.

Ready to take control of your student loans? Here are our top recommendations for student loan refinancing and consolidation.

Disclosure: Student Loan Hero is a free website to help student loan borrowers. We only evaluate lenders and do not issue student loans. This report was not chartered by or created on behalf of any lender listed below.

    Variable APR

Variable-rate student loans have interest rates that can change during the repayment period. Interest rates may increase or decrease at any time and typically do so based on changes to LIBOR. Often, the introductory rate on a variable-rate loan is lower than that of a fixed rate loan, though it has the potential to increase later. Learn more

A fixed-rate student loan guarantees a single interest rate that does not change over the lifetime of the loan. Fixed-rate loans often have higher rates than the introductory rates on variable loans. However, borrowers have peace of mind knowing their monthly payments will always be the same amount. Learn more

“Term” refers to the length of the loan, typically in years. In general, the shorter the term, the lower the interest rate and the higher the monthly payments. Longer terms will typically result in lower monthly payments but at a higher interest rate. Borrowers may select any term offered by a lender regardless of the current loan term. Learn more

    Unemployment Protection

If a borrower loses their job through no fault of their own, they may be eligible to receive unemployment benefits with some lenders. If approved for this benefit, the lender will put the borrower’s loans into forbearance, suspending their monthly loan payments. Unpaid interest will continue to accrue and will be capitalized (added) onto the borrower’s principal balance. Borrowers typically have the option to make interest-only payments during this period in order to prevent accruing interest from increasing their balance.

I had an overwhelmingly positive experience

After hearing about the student loan refinance options at Citizens Bank, I was interested to learn more and submit an application. However, I was unaware of what the process required. I was very fortunate to be assisted by your phone agent during the application process. He was extremely patient, professional and knowledgeable. He was able to clearly answer my many questions and provide guidance as I put together the required information for the application. I had an overwhelmingly positive experience and because of it, will be referring my sister for this product as well. I look forward to finishing the process and having a better student loan finance option. Thank you!

    Text Structure

The term “text structure” refers to how information is organized in a passage. The structure of a text can change multiple times in a work and even within a paragraph.

Cause and Effect:The results of something are explained.
Example: The dodo bird used to roam in large flocks across America. Interestingly, the dodo wasn’t startled by gun shot. Because of this, frontiersmen would kill entire flocks in one sitting. Unable to sustain these attacks, the dodo was hunted to extinction.

Learn More About Cause and Effect

Chronological: information in the passage is organized in order of time.
Example: Jack and Jill ran up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after.

    Learn More About Chronological Order

Compare and Contrast: two or more things are described. Their similarities and differences are discussed.
Example: Linux and Windows are both operating systems. Computers use them to run programs. Linux is totally free and open source, so users can improve or otherwise modify the source code. Windows is proprietary, so it costs money to use and users are prohibited from altering the source code.

Learn More About Compare and Contrast

Order of Importance: information is expressed as a hierarchy or in priority.
Example: Here are the three worst things that you can do on a date. First, you could tell jokes that aren’t funny and laugh really hard to yourself. This will make you look bad. Worse though, you could offend your date. One bad “joke” may cause your date to lash out at you, hence ruining the engagement. But the worst thing that you can do is to appear slovenly. By not showering and properly grooming, you may repulse your date, and this is the worst thing that you can do.
Learn More About Order of Importance

Problem and Solution: a problem is described and a response or solution is proposed or explained.
Example: thousand of people die each year in car accidents involving drugs or alcohol. Lives could be saved if our town adopts a free public taxi service. By providing such a service, we could prevent intoxicated drivers from endangering themselves or others.
Learn More About Problem and Solution

Sequence / Process Writing: information is organized in steps or a process is explained in the order in which it occurs.
    Example:
Eating cereal is easy. First, get out your materials. Next, pour your cereal in the bowl, add milk, and enjoy.

    Learn More About Sequence

Spatial / Descriptive Writing: information is organized in order of space (top to bottom, left to right).
Example: when you walk into my bedroom there is a window facing you. To the right of that is a dresser and television and on the other side of the window is my bed.

How Much is A Speeding Ticket in Arizona?

    Speeding Tickets in Different States:

    • Speeding Tickets in California
    • Speeding Tickets in Florida
    • Speeding Tickets in Texas
    • Speeding Tickets in New York
    • Speeding Tickets in New Jersey

    AZSpeedingTickets

The state of Arizona makes use of several unique methods to nab speeders. Arizona drivers must be aware of stationary traffic cameras, officer radar guns, unmarked police cars and beyond. If you are pulled over for speeding, you will likely receive a fine as well as points on your driving record/license.

It is important to note that specific speeding fines differ by city and county. As an example, someone caught speeding in Flagstaff will not face the same fine as someone who is nabbed speeding in Tucson. Additionally, those who have not been caught speeding in the past will likely face less of a fine than those who have received multiple speeding tickets.

    Show Arizona the Money

Police officers are required to follow nuanced guidelines when determining the value of a speeding ticket. However, in some instances, the officer will consider the driver’s level of resistance/compliance when determining the cost of the speeding ticket. In other instances, the officer will follow the specific formula that determines the cost of a speeding ticket. If it is determined that you were driving more than 10 miles per hour beyond the speed limit, the financial penalty for your ticket will rise quite dramatically.

A speeding ticket for driving 10 miles per hour beyond the speed limit runs $250. This cost increases $50 for every 5 miles per hour beyond 10 miles per hour above the speed limit.

A speeding ticket for driving 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit can be increased by $200 more than the initial $250 fee. Driving at such a fast rate of speed can also result in the suspension of the driver’s license. It is even possible for the license to be revoked when the traffic stop occurs.

The amount of the speeding ticket can be changed according to whether the driver was nabbed speeding by one of the state’s stationary traffic cameras. This style of speeding ticket is sent through the mail. It requires the driver to pay a set cost of $165 along with an additional $30 in fees and surcharges.

Show Traffic School the Money – It’s CHEAPER!

It is usually less expensive to take and pay for AZ defensive driving course , not have any points added to your driving record and avoid having your insurance rates up than to pay your ticket, have points added to your record and have your auto rates increase dramatically.

The table below displays the top 5 counties Arizona drivers get caught speeding in. Traffic school prices differ based on individual court diversion fees. Take a look at the ultimate savings here:

    Eligibility and More

Arizona allows residents to enroll in traffic school once every 12 months. When you take the course, it will only dismiss one traffic related offense. Be sure to look up fines and points for all violations (if you received more than one) before you tell the Traffic School which offense you want the school to dismiss.

    Top violations:
    Speeding: 3 points
Running a red light or stop sign: 4 points
    Failure to yield: 4 points

    Criminal Speeding

Speeding at an excessive rate, known as “criminal speeding”, can result in upwards of 30 days in jail and a $500 fine. Additional penalties for criminal speeding include paying to have the vehicle retrieved from the space it was towed to. Criminal speeding occurs when a driver goes 85 miles per hour or more anywhere in Arizona. A driver exceeding 35 miles per hour near a school crossing can also be found guilty of criminal speeding.

A driver who exceeds the posted speed limit by 20 miles per hour in a residential or business area can also be found guilty of criminal driving. If no speed is posted in a residential or business area, one driving 45 miles per hour or more beyond the speed limit will face the possibility of a criminal speeding charge. Aside from fines and possible jail time, such a charge can also impact one’s ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.

Hi there, I read through a few of your articles here.
I did have a question though that I hope you could answer.

I was wondering, What do police officers hate most about the police force?
I’m pursuing a law enforcement career right
now, so I want to be ready. I would really appreciate any help you could give me!

School Zones Are Refined to Reduce Speeds and Improve Safety

    School speed limit

    Judy Hedding

In 1950, Phoenix, Arizona was the first city in the country to establish 15 mph zones around schools. While those have been effective in reducing the number of pedestrian/vehicle accidents around some schools, with more than 450 schools in the greater Phoenix area and more than more than 1,700 school-related crosswalks, it simply isn’t possible to slow our ever-increasing population down to 15 mph around every school.

Arizona and the cities within the state are constantly analyzing the issues involved in improving safety in an environment of ever-increasing populations and traffic. What’s the point? To try to get more kids walking and biking to and from school. Why should we encourage children to walk to and from school? There are three basic reasons:

    1. Walking and bicycling is healthier
    2. Less traffic means less congestion around schools
    3. Less driving reduces pollution from emissions

Helping our young pedestrians stay safe from traffic incidents while getting to and from school is a multi-faceted effort, which some in Phoenix refer to as the “3E”s:

Engineering – crosswalks, signs, sidewalk improvements, bikeways
Education – students and drivers learn about safety, and walking and bicycling are encouraged.
Enforcement – photo radar, police presence

Maricopa County participates in the Safe Routes To Schools program . This program involves parents, children, community members, school staff, traffic engineers, city planners, law enforcement officers, community leaders and many others.

City and state engineers, school administrators, and parents continue to seek the best solutions to pedestrian safety for kids. Drivers in Arizona, and especially in congested areas like metro Phoenix, are likely to experience a variety of speed control measures, including, but not limited to:

    • school zones that are 35 mph 24/7
    • school zones that are 35 mph during specified hours/days
    • school zones that are 35 mph when the lights are flashing
    • red-light cameras at selected schools
    • 15 mph speed limit signs that are manually placed during school hours (a school crossing guard may be present)
    • advisory speed signs that tell you how fast you are driving through the school zone
    • wider and more sidewalks
    • more obvious painting of crosswalks
    • active driver feedback speed signs with a SLOW NOW message
    • florescent yellow-green school warning signs
    • larger student waiting areas and “Stand-back” lines at crosswalks
    • photo speed camera vans to provide mobile enforcement
    • pavement stencils placing the word “SCHOOL” on the street
    • in-pavement crosswalk flashing lights, known as the Flashing Crosswalk
    • staggered crossings that force pedestrians to look toward oncoming traffic
    • pedestrian safety islands

It seems that we’ll continue to implement whatever mechanisms are at our disposal to get drivers to pay attention and slow down around all pedestrians, especially our children. Maybe walking to school can become the norm again, instead of the exception.

It is common in the greater Phoenix area to come upon 15 mph zones near primary school crosswalks. Sometimes there will be a crossing guard present to remind you to slow down or to stop if there are children in or near the crosswalk.

Arizona’s 15 mph zones are zero-tolerance zones. That means that you can (and probably will) get a citation if you are caught going even a few miles over 15 mph. Typically, enforcement is the most aggressive during the end of July through August, when school starts in most parts of the Valley of the Sun. Violating a school zone speed limit can be costly. The fine is over $100 and you’ll get points on your license. You may be eligible for defensive driving school.

    15 mph School Zone Tips

Here are some things you might not have known about the 15 mph school zones:

    • If any person is school zone crosswalk, they must be completely out of the crosswalk before any vehicle can proceed in either direction.
    • Passing is not permitted in a 15 mph zone, no matter how slow another vehicle may be traveling. Passing doesn’t mean getting around the vehicle. No passing means that your bumper can’t pass any other car’s bumper going in your same direction.
    • There is zero tolerance in a 15 mph zone. It is never reasonable or prudent to go faster in a school zone. You can be cited for going 16 mph in a 15 mph zone.
    • Once you have driven entirely past the last school crosswalk, you may resume the normal speed for that street.

      About One Thousand Paper Cranes

The inspirational story of the Japanese national campaign to build the Children’s Peace Statue honoring Sadako and hundreds of other children who died as a result of the bombing of Hiroshima.

Ten years after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Sadako Sasaki died as a result of atomic bomb disease. Sadako’s determination to fold one thousand paper cranes and her courageous struggle with her illness inspired her classmates. After her death, they started a national campaign to build the Children’s Peace Statue to remember Sadako and the many other children who were victims of the Hiroshima bombing. On top of the statue is a girl holding a large crane in her outstretched arms. Today in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, this statue of Sadako is beautifully decorated with thousands of paper cranes given by people throughout the world.
