5 Tips For Presenting an Engaging Thesis Proposal
The process of creating and presenting your thesis proposal is a stressful ordeal for many students. The aim of your presentation is to explain your work to a wider audience, to gain valuable feedback, suitability, and feasibility.
What sounds like a straightforward assignment can actually turn into a problematic one. After all your research, you need to present your hard work. So with that in mind, we thought we would make your life a little easier. In this blog, we have compiled a list of our top 5 tips for perfecting your presentation game.
The standard powerpoint presentation just won’t do. Keep your audience alert with a visual thesis proposal that is sure to impress. As we are a multimedia platform, we may be a little bit bias, but we definitely think you should use the power of video animation to tell a captivating story and to persuade your tutor.
1. Introduce yourself and your thesis proposal
First things first. For your presentation to be successful, you need to know how to introduce yourself, and of course your thesis proposal. Writing, designing, and rehearsing your presentation is not enough if you fail to prepare for a strong introduction. You only get one chance to make a great first impression, so you better make it count!
Let your tutor know what your thesis proposal is all about and why you’ve chosen this particular title. This is where video animation can enter the equation! Moovly offers a wide variety of pre-animated characters and video templates for you to choose from. We’ve even designed a free thesis proposal template to help you get started. You can sign up here for your free Moovly license and create your thesis proposal today!
2. Have the right information
Without the right information to effectively explain your thesis proposal, you’re pretty much cooking up a recipe for disaster. Make sure that you have a well-sculpted story that speaks directly to your tutor with relevant information to embark persuasion.
It’s critical that your presentation has the right information and is not just a collaboration of everything related to your thesis proposal. Being subjective is key here. However, there’s so much more to it than this. In other words, you need to explain to your audience in an entertaining way! Throw in some humor, show personality and get creative. Giving a presentation with video animation is another brilliant way of doing this.
3. Explain with visuals and video animations
While you may have an interesting title and an innovative hypothesis, you need to convince your tutor that your thesis proposal is the right one. You need to captivate your audience and make sure that they fully understand your scope.
The last thing that you want to do is to talk “AT” your audience. You’ve got to guide them through your thesis proposal. There’s no better way to grip your audience and explain your information further than through visuals and animations. Use color psychology to help evoke emotion and insightful video animations to help explain a point further. Remember, your tutor has probably seen a dozen of thesis proposals before yours; you need to do everything you can to make sure they remember yours and are excited to see it develop into a finished project.
Avoid the humiliation of putting your audience to sleep with a bland, text-filled thesis proposal presentation that is just plain, old, boring. Nobody want’s to see that. Color sure does matter! Blue connotes trust and certainty. Green? Balance and harmony. Red represents passion and drive. That said, use colorful visuals to instill a certain emotion in the mind of your audience.
4. Balance content and flow
Your thesis proposal presentation should contain the perfect blend of text, video animations and visuals to support each key concept. Split your content into separate slides to explain everything that your tutor needs to know. Balance it out and make it flow.
Audio is another amazing aspect which could add some serious value to your thesis proposal presentation. Sound can set the scene, create an atmosphere and cue the action. Don’t overdo it, though, even things out and make it work. Moovly offers a vast range of styles to really complement your thesis proposal. From unique doodles and video templates to clear graphics and so much more! With a ton of pre-made animated assets and backgrounds for you to choose from.

Getting started with TIKZ
TIKZ can give you some measure of control when you want to position
text or figures, and is useful for drawing basic shapes (lines,
arrows, highlight boxes, polygons).
Most of what I learned from TIKZ comes from
1) Z. Walczak’s manual at
and 2) other people’s TIKZ slides.

3M Anti-Tarnish Strips FAQ’s
Q. What are 3M Anti-Tarnish Strips?
A. They’re special absorbent paper that protects metal jewelry and other items from unsightly discoloration and tarnish, especially during shipping and storage. The Strips protect silver, nickel, copper, bronze, brass, tin and gold.
Q. How do they work?
A. They absorb sulfides and other pollutants in the air and prevent tarnish from occurring. They do not remove existing tarnish.
Q. How do I use them?
A. Simply put 3M Anti-Tarnish strips in a well-sealed enclosure with tarnish-free metal items. The more air-tight the enclosure, the longer the strips will remain effective. The enclosure can be a china cabinet, silverware chest, drawer, jewelry box, plastic or cloth storage bag, safe-deposit box, toolbox or other container.
Q. How many strips should I use?
A. One strip protects approximately one cubic foot of enclosed airspace. For instance, a 54-inch-wide china cabinet would need four strips per shelf. (Place the strips at the back of the shelves, and they’ll be almost unnoticeable.)
Q. Must the 3M Anti-Tarnish Strip touch the metal?
A. No, it only needs to be near it. However, the strip will not harm metal it touches.
Q. How long will these strips protect?
A. Each pack contains 16 strips, each strip will protect for approximately 6 months to 2 years in a jewelry box or other enclosed area, depending on how often the container is opened or how air-tight the container is.
Q. Are the Strips safe?
A. Yes, completely safe and non-toxic. They do not emit anything, and they leave no residue.
Q. How much area will each strip protect?
A. One strip protects one cubic foot of enclosed air space.
Q. How long will unopened packages of strips remain effective?
A. Two years or longer, if the outer plastic remains intact.

George Washington High School finally has a new football coach.
The Danville School Board voted 6-0 to approve Nick Anderson — formerly of Kinston High School in North Carolina — to replace Bobby Martin as the new leading man for the Eagles almost exactly four months away from the start of practices on Aug. 1.
“ (I’m) just super excited after hearing about all the history that GW football has. It’s a great move for our family,” Anderson said. “We have a little boy who’s 7 months old yesterday and being able to find somewhere to call home to raise him and still have a great football tradition that GW has is something that my family has looked for for a while”
Anderson, a native of Alamance County, N.C., led the Kinston to a 30-10 record during his three years at the helm of the Vikings, including an appearance in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2AA state title game in 2011. Anderson left Kinston, which went 7-5 last season, third on the school’s all-time wins list.
“ What I always tell our kids is ‘I know what we need to do, but you’re the ones who have to do it.’” Anderson said. “That’s kind of the motto that we go with down there. They’re the guys who do the work. The weight room is a big part of our program, working hard in the weight room. And then on the field their talent takes over. I just kind of stand there and watch because I’m just the organizer. They’re the guys who get all the credit for the accomplishments that we’ve had down there. It is a great program and it’s going in the right direction. It’s sad to leave… But I’m ready to get here and that’s the bottom line. I’m ready to get here and get started and get to work. I’m excited to meet the staff and the kids and I hope that they’re just as excited as I am.”
The Eagles’ job will be Anderson’s second as a head coach. Prior to his arrival at Kinston he had been an assistant at Greenville Rose High School in Greenville, N.C., for five years.
Anderson is also no stranger to a short off season. When the Vikings hired him, they did so in July, giving him less than a month to put together a new offense before the start of pre-season workouts. In that first season Kinston went 10-3, tied for second place in the Eastern Plains 2A Conference, and Anderson guided his team to the second round of the NCHSAA 2AA playoffs. The following year Anderson and the Vikings went 13-2 and played for the school’s first-ever state title.
“ The whole thing about Kinston is I did get hired in July. I think we had a game in a month,” Anderson said. “We put a whole new offense in and we got really organized, made a calendar and that whole thing. The kids, again we’re always about the kids, really bought into what I wanted to do. They gave us all the time that we needed; paid attention during meetings and film study and practice. We are behind the eight-ball a little bit right now. A lot of people have already started spring practice. We’ve started spring practice in Kinston … We’ve got a lot of work to do and we’re ready to do it.”
Anderson takes over an Eagles squad that went 8-3 en route to winning the last-ever Western Valley District championship in 2012. He will be the fourth head coach for the Eagles in five years.
According to a recent article in the Kinston Free Press, Anderson made the move partially due to his parents’ recent move to Southside Virginia.
“ When this job came open; my family actually just moved to the area in Clarksville,” he said. “As soon as they did that this job became open … God has a plan. He’s led me here and we’re excited to be here.”
Now that the Eagles have a head coach in place they can begin to work on replacing Wayne Shelton, who was placed on special assignment to help run GW athletics since 2011. Shelton’s retirement was announced at the school board meeting as well.

In a previous version of this story Wayne Shelton was incorrectly listed as the outgoing athletic director at George Washington High School. While Shelton performed all the duties of an athletic director, he was never made the official athletic director. The Eagles have been without an official athletic director since 2006

(FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) is available. You can use this business function to map the parallel valuation of your fixed assets.
To be able to use this business function, you have to use new General Ledger Accounting with the ledger
approach. For additional information about the prerequisites for this business function, see section “Effects on Customizing”.
Asset Accounting with active business function and active Customizing switch is referred to below as
“new Asset Accounting” or “FI-AA (new)” Asset Accounting prior to this is referred as “classic Asset Accounting” in order to distinguish the two.
Characteristics and use of new Asset Accounting
You can now assign the depreciation areas of new Asset Accounting to the ledger groups of the general
ledger in a more flexible way. The fixed linkage of depreciation area 01 to the leading ledger in the
general ledger no longer applies. The system posts parallel values with the actual values in realtime;
separate documents are posted for each valuation. The means the posting of delta values has been replaced; as a result, the delta depreciation areas are no longer required.
Activating and setting up this business function (FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) is the prerequistie for business function FI-GL, Change in Leading Valuation (such as to IFRS)
(FIN_GL_CHNGE_LDG_VAL). When you change the leading valuation, it is possible to change the accounting
principles underlying the group valuation without having to adapt the configuration of new Asset Accounting or change the historical transaction data.
You must or should activate business function (FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) in the following cases:
- You want to use the SAP application for Asset Accounting for the first time (activation of business function FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL is advised).
- You want to use business function FI-GL, Change in Leading Valuation (such as to IFRS)
(FIN_GL_CHNGE_LDG_VAL) (activation of business function FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL is essential).
- You are already using classic Asset Accounting. You also want to make postings in all valuations
(for all accounting principles) in real time. You want to be able to comprehend the postings of all
valuations, without having to take into account the postings of the leading valuation, as was previously the case. The following details the advantages you gain by using new Asset Accounting:
- Real-time postings in all valuations
- Leading valuation made more flexible
- Parallel documents for each valuation that post correct values from the beginning
- Abolition of delta areas for the parallel valuation
- Simplification of your chart of depreciation
- Valuation-specific postings by restriction to ledger group or depreciation area; the restriction of transaction types to depreciation area no longer applies
- Different fiscal year variants for each valuation (restriction: beginning and end date of the fiscal year variant have to match)
- Straightforward assignment of accounts for each valuation within an asset class
- Simplified management of economic assets that are to be capitalized in accordance with a set of accounting principles, but are to be posted to expense in accordance with a different set.
You can use new Asset Accounting providing you are using the ledger approach. The account approach is not supported in this delivery.
However, it is possible for you to use new Asset Accounting for the ledger approach in one client, while you can use classic Asset Accounting for the account approach in another client.
ALE transfer is not available.
The batch input method is no longer available; you can use the changed and new BAPIs for postings instead. For more information on these BAPIs, see the
Postings Release Note.
Reversal using a document with reversed positive/negative signs (an inverse posting) is possible; a real reversal (negative posting) is no longer available.
Other Release Notes
For more information about new Asset Accounting, see the following release notes:
Effects on Existing Data
Existing master data, transaction data and Customizing data is not changed by activating the business function or the Customizing switch.
Note the following:
- You cannot reverse documents that originated before the changeover from classic to new Asset Accounting. Instead, you have to make an inverse posting.
- It may no longer be possible to process worklists that have been created before the changeover to
the new Asset Accouting. This involves worklists that create transaction data (however, not
master data changes), such as worklists for retirement without revenue, retirement with revenue, intercompany
asset transfer, impairment posting. You should therefore either process these worklists before you activate the Customizing switch, or create them again once you have activated the Customizing switch.
- Regarding the restriction of transaction types to depreciation areas, note the Postings release note.
- Existing Customizing settings from classic Asset Accounting are transferred; this means that to
the extent you have already been working with classic Asset Accounting, you do not
have to make all the Customizing settings again. Nevertheless, you should usually check the Customizing settings, and change or enhance them.
When you activate the business function, a separate Customizing structure for new Asset Accounting is
shown in the SAP Reference IMG under Financial Accounting (New):
Asset Accounting (New). This IMG structure contains some of the same activities as are in classic
Asset Accounting, some changed activities, and some new activities; a few of the classic Asset Accounting
activities are no longer contained in the Asset Accounting (New) IMG structure at all.
Some of the classic Asset Accounting transactions have been replaced by corresponding new ones. So that
you can make ledger group-specific postings, input fields Depreciation Area
and Ledger Group can be found on the screen for the new transactions. The name of the relevant new tansaction ends in “L”. Example: The previous transaction AB01
(Create Asset Transactions) is replaced by the new transaction AB01L.
The new transactions are: AB01L, ABAAL, ABAKL, ABAOL, ABAVL, ABAWL, ABCOL, ABGFL, ABGLL, ABIFL, ABMAL, ABMRL, ABNAL, ABNEL, ABNKL, ABSOL, ABSTL, ABUML, ABZEL, ABZOL, ABZPL, ABZUL.
As soon as you have activated the new Asset Accounting Customizing switch, the system responds as follows:
If you enter the old familiar transaction (without the ending in L), you are automatically transferred to the new transaction (that ends in L).
Transaction ABSO_OLD from classic Asset Accounting is no longer available in new Asset Accounting; you can use transaction AB01L instead.
SAP Easy Access Menu
The SAP Easy Access Menu for new Asset Accounting remains the same as for the classic Asset Accounting.
You can continue to find it under SAP Menu -> Accounting -> Financial Accounting -> Fixed Assets.
As soon as you have activated the Customizing switch for new Asset Accounting, the system is set to transfer you to any of the new transactions (compare the transactions detailed above).
Effects on Data Transfer
Programs for asset postings that supply Asset Accounting with data using batch input (for example, interfaces
to non-SAP sytems) can no longer be used (as mentioned above). You have to change over these programs to the new BAPIs. See the corresponding section in the
Postings release note.
Effects on System Administration
Effects on Customizing
Prerequisites for the Business Function
For you to be able to use new Asset Accounting, the following criteria must be met:
- You have set up and activated the application component General Ledger Accounting (FI-GL) (New).
- To handle parallel accounting principles, use the ledger approach.
- You have activated the Financials Extension (EA-FIN) business function.
- You have configured the classic Asset Accounting (FI-AA) application component.
- From the Financials Extension (EA-FIN), you use the new depreciation calculation with the depreciation calculation program (DCP).
- Or: If you have not previously used classic Asset Accounting, you need to make all of the necessary Customizing settings for new Asset Accounting.
- You need to activate this business function FI-AA, Parallel Valuation (FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) for new Asset Accounting.
Prerequisites for Asset Accounting (FI-AA) (new)
If you want to use new Asset Accounting, you are not allowed to use any of the following components:
- Joint Venture Accounting (JVA)
- You cannot activate new Asset Accounting in company codes in which JVA is active, and the reverse is also true.
- (The business function JVA, Integration with New General Ledger Accounting (JVA_GL_INTEGRATION)) is also not compatible with new Asset Accounting.)
- From the Financials Extension (EA-FIN): Lease Accounting Engine (LAE)
- The LAE controls postings for the lessor scenario; this scenario consists of the components CRM Leasing (CRM-LAM) and Leasing Accounting (FI-LA).
- Real Estate (RE), that is, classic Real Estate Management
- From Funds Management (PSM-FM) or Industry-Specific Component Public Sector (IS-PS): Requests with Reference to Asset
If you are already using classic Asset Accounting, the following additional prerequisites also apply:
- Make sure that the periodic asset postings (with program RAPERB2000) are completed.
- Also ensure that there are no update terminations from direct postings in the system.
The parallel currencies in the leading ledger in General Ledger Accounting and in the depreciation areas
in Asset Accounting must be congruent. If you have previously been using parallel currencies in General
Ledger Accounting but you have not implemented the corresponding parallel currency
areas in Asset Accounting for all depreciation areas, you must first implement these depreciation areas before you can activate new Asset Accounting. Contact your system specialist.
Relationship to Other Business Functions
New Asset Accounting has the following relationships to other business functions:
- CO, CO, Parallel Valuation of Cost of Goods Manufactured (FIN_CO_COGM), SAP ERP 6.0 enhancement packages 5 and upwards
- As of SAP enhancement package 7 SP02, you can also valuate investment measures differently for the parallel
valuation of the cost of goods manufactured, according to accounting principle. These valuation approaches
are activated for each depreciation area when you settle investment measures for assets under construction
(AUC) and for the full settlement to completed assets, depending on the accounting principle. Differing
capitalization percentage rates from the Customizing activity for calculating the capitalization value of investment measures (transaction OKGK) are taken into account.
- Materials Management – Enhancements in Procurement (LOG_MM_CI_3), SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0
- If you use purchase orders for low-value assets (LVA) in Asset Accounting, then in the future it is
not possible to note purchase orders if the LVA maximum amount is exceeded. If you
want to use the function for noting purchase orders, we recommend that you activate the business function Materials Management – Enhancements in Procurement (LOG_MM_CI_3).
- FI-AA, Asset Accounting (FIN_AA_CI_1), SAP enhancement package 6 for SAP ERP 6.0
- Where you have assigned different fiscal year variants to your general ledgers, you can only use new
Asset Accounting if you have activated business function FIN_AA_CI_1, and have assigned the appropriate fiscal year variant to the corresponding depreciation areas that manage APC and post in real time.
- FI-GL, Change in Leading Valuation (such as to IFRS) (FIN_GL_CHNGE_LDG_VAL), SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0 SP 02
- Setting up and activating this business function (FIN_AA_PARALLEL_VAL) is the prerequisite for changing the leading valuation in the new General Ledger Accounting.
Time of the changeover from classic to new Asset Accounting
You can make the changeover from the classic to the new Asset Accounting at any time you wish.
The prerequisite for this is, however, that you have completed all periodic and current posting processes that involve Asset Accounting. You must not make any postings during the changeover.
You are recommended to carry out the changeover after period closing has been fully completed.

How to Cancel Your SAT Scores
SAT Logistics ,
What can you do if you took the SAT already but you decide you want to cancel your test scores?
First, stop and take a step back. Ask yourself if you’re sure. Once you cancel your test scores, there’s no going back.
Second, figure out – can you still cancel your scores? CollegeBoard has a very strict deadline about this and if you miss that deadline, then they won’t budge.
So what can you do? Well, I’m here to help you 1) assess whether you should cancel; 2) know what steps you need to take to cancel; and 3) know what to do if you miss the deadline to cancel, but still need to deal with a poor score.
Why are you canceling? Should you really do this?
You may have felt unsure about your answers, or you may have taken longer than the people around you to complete the test and are worried that you did poorly. However, keep in mind that everyone feels bad coming out of a test. For tests as long as the SAT, it’s best not to make an impulsive decision about canceling.
If you cancel your test, then you are probably going to have to take it again. Besides, it’s possible that you did better than you thought you did. This is very common!
But you have to keep in mind – once you cancel your test scores, you can’t take it back. Know that there are other options. Score Choice is one such deal, where you can choose which scores you send to colleges, so your low scores won’t necessarily have the terrible impact you think it will. However, some schools do require that “all scores” be sent out, so its important to consider where your top choice schools fall on this list. Take a look at Which Colleges Superscore the SAT to find out!
There is another option as well – you can cancel the free score reports so that they don’t go out! This way, you don’t have to cancel your scores ahead of time, and you can decide whether anyone else sees them. Until then, you are the only one who will. I talk about this topic more in the last section of this article, so make sre you check that out.
So, basically, you have a lot of options. But you still don’t know what to decide?
In cases like these, I would recommend you carefully go over the checklist we provided below. If you answer YES to any of the questions in the checklist, then you may want to consider canceling. But if you answer no, then what you should really do is step away, and wait for the results, knowing that you did the best you could have that day.
CHECKLIST: When should you consider canceling your score?
- You panicked while taking the test and missed a lot of questions
- You ran out of time repeatedly and could not complete one or more sections
- Your equipment malfunctioned [your calculator spazzed or ran out of batteries, your pencils all broke and there was no sharpener and it turned out they weren’t #2 anyway]
- You were sick during the test
- Something happened during the test that you found disruptive [there was construction outside, someone in the room had a medical emergency, etc.] and this really shook up your performance
- You were late to your test [because of transportation, you woke up late, etc] and because of that you’ve been distracted the whole time
- You top choice college is one that requires you to send in all your scores , and does not allow Score Choice
- You are 100% sure that you filled in your answer circles wrong on an entire section or more (Note: This is possible to fix with Hand Score Grading, $55, by CollegeBoard – check out our article on it here .)
- You fell asleep during the test
If you answer YES to any of the questions on the Checklist above, and you know you want to cancel, then you need to go through the steps outlined below.
What steps should you take to cancel your SAT score?
At the test center, immediately after the test
- Ask the test supervisor for a Request to Cancel Test Scores form
- Complete the form and sign in
- Return the form to the test supervisor before leaving the test center
If you decide to cancel after leaving the test center
You must submit a written request to CollegeBoard by 11:59 PM EST on the Wednesday after the test
You cannot submit test score cancellation requests by phone or email because your signature is required. Yes, it’s a hassle, but it is necessary so that they know it’s not someone trying to maliciously erase your test.
You need the following information:
- The SAT Request to Cancel Test Scores form found here
- The test date
- The test center number
- The name of the test you are canceling (either SAT or SAT Subject Test)
- Your signature (required)
Remember, once you submit a request to cancel your scores, your scores cannot be reinstated under any circumstances and will not be reported to you or any of the institutions you selected.
IMPORTANT: What’s the SAT Cancellation Deadline?
You must cancel no later than 11:59 PM EST on the Wednesday following the test date.
The only exception is students with disabilities. Because of the extended school testing window, students with disabilities who test in school based testing have until the Monday, 1 week after the published test date to cancel their scores.
How to Send in Your Request:

By FedEx, UPS, other Overnight Mail Delivery:
SAT Score Cancellation
1425 Lower Ferry Road
Ewing NJ, 08618
NOTE: The mailing or Fax label should read ATTENTION: SAT Score Cancellation
What if you miss the deadline? What can you do?
Option 1: Accept what CollegeBoard says and be sad
According to CollegeBoard, if you wait until after the deadline, then there’s nothing you can do. Your score will become a part of your permanent record
Option 2: Be Clever!
You can use Score Choice to prevent universities from seeing your bad score.
You can make changes to your score recipients easily in your My SAT Account. You can change these recipients until 11:59 PM EST on the Monday one week after your scheduled test date.
If for some reason you cannot delete score recipients altogether, change the recipients to colleges you aren’t interested in; some college will get your score, but your chances with your top-choice colleges won’t be damaged.
Note: if you remove score recipients but then later learn that you did very well, then you will need to pay $10.50 per school to send those results. However, if that’s the price you pay for some peace of mind, then it might be worth it. If you decide to cancel, then be prepared for that possible expense.
Basically, if you act within a week, after the initial deadline to cancel your scores, there are still ways to keep your scores from getting to your top-choice schools!

Home » Themes » Download Windows Classic Theme For Windows 8
Click here to fix Windows errors and improve PC performance
Along with the Aero glass theme , Microsoft has also removed the Windows Classic theme from the latest iteration of Windows. Computer users who have been using Windows 8 for a while must be knowing about the missing Aero and Windows Classic themes.
While majority of Windows users don’t like the Classic theme and prefer to the use the default theme, a small percentage of Windows users prefer to use the Windows Classic theme regardless of system hardware configuration.
As some of you know, using the Classic theme boosts system performance, especially on low end machines. By switching from the default theme to the Classic, you can give your Windows old look and feel. Another advantage of using Classic theme is boost in battery life.
Windows 8 users who are missing the Windows Classic theme will be glad to know about the availability of the Windows Classic theme. A deviantart user has created the Classic theme for Windows 8. The best thing is that you don’t need to edit or replace original system files to install this Classic theme. Simply follow the given below instructions to install and apply Windows classic theme in Windows 8.
NOTE: You can use this theme file on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 8. Applying the Classic theme will change the Start screen background and tile color to classic view as well.
Step 1: Visit this page and download the zip file.
Step 2: Extract the zip file onto the desktop or any other location to get Classic.theme file.
Step 3: Now move the Classic.theme file to C:\Windows\Resources\Ease of Access Themes folder (here, “C” is your Windows 8 installation drive ).
Step 4: Perform a right-click on desktop, click Personalization to open Personalization window.
Step 5: Here, under High Contrast Themes, you will see the Classic theme along with other high contrast themes. Click on Classic theme to apply it.
To switch back to the default one, simply open Personalization window and click on the default theme. You might also like to know how to customize the Start screen and lock screen in Windows 8.

There is no “performance boost” by using this theme. It is purely an entertainment device. They have recolored the theme of windows and that’s all. The window composition engine is still running but just using different colors. So if you like the classic look this theme is for you but be aware, any of the high contrast themes would give the same “boost”.
This is simply wonderful. My eyes just can’t cope with ubiquitous retina-burn white themes. For me, not being able to tweak window background colours is a huge drawback of Windows 8.
This theme is great on the eyes…
Also, be aware that if you choose any of the classic/high-contrast themes, you will NOT be able to change text colors in Office 2013. Windows 8.1 is supposed to fix this, by re-issuing classic themes that will allow you to do this, but we’ll see…
Hi, Contrary to what some have said this is a useful theme as there are a number of specialist programs that will not display correctly on 7 or 8 unless you use windows classic or windows high contrast. OK you can make up your own theme but it’s easier if some one else has done the mucking around. Not sure that it increases performance much but there is an improvement in battery life.
My new high end PC came with Win 8 basic. I found that my 2007 Office Enterprise Outlook indexing won’t work. I’ve re-set/re-started indexing several times, but it quits indexing after shut down and re-start of the PC. I’ve also re-installed Office, to no avail. A friend tells me that he had the same problem, but corrected it with the download of the $39.99 Pro Pac upgrade (until 1/31/13) from Microsoft. Do you concur that it is necessary to install this up grade to have Office 2007 Enterprise work well in Win 8????
Is it possible to change the navigation buttons into Windows Classic visual style?
This is merely HiConWhite customized to be more like Classic. And, it DOES boost performance if your vcard is a wimp in a barrel.
But I simply prefer Classic view to this sux0rious bum Aero (which is still alive and even used for EVERY theme)…
Windows 8 is suckage, and this theme does NOT take that down. It is pointless due to being a HiCon customization, something you can do on your own (I am using this myself, as a sort of half-assed medium)
This is the most pointless thing ever created. Why? Because it’s not really classic theme. It’s just Windows’ theme with the classic colors.
I am not even sure if the classic theme boosted performance in Vista/7 over the default theme with Aero disabled. The biggest performance penalty in those themes came with the blurring effect. Otherwise, the theme does some things right that the classic theme did wrong (e.g., it uses desktop compositing).
But this theme doesn’t change anything in the way windows are rendered. Using this to get a performance boost is a 100% futile effort.
Windows classic theme DOES up performance (I used to use it, too, for performance and as a cool throwback) but Windows 8 will do the same thing. Many don’t know that. If all you’re using windows classic for is to make your computer run faster no need to worry. Windows 8 will do it too! So don’t be afraid to run the real windows 8 theme. I’ve loved it so far. It runs much faster than Vista did on my old laptop. I’m waiting for he release date to update my new laptop.
